My client wanted a separate bedroom and full kitchen within the 25' x 16' space. So we started out by installing recessed lighting, framed a wall with a pocket door, installed the drywall and floated out. Then we removed a section of carpet in kitchen to allow a subcontracted plumber to install plumbing drain & water lines in the new kitchen. Once the plumber did his thing we ran electrical for backsplash outlet, disposal and under cabinet lighting, installed Hardibacker to floor, patched the exposed wall and started building the cabinetry to match the rest of the house. The cabinetry is built up to the ceiling with crown & trim detail. The crown molding extends from the cabinets throughout both rooms for a custom look. Inside the main cabinets are adjustable shelving with a natural sealed finish. The granite top was installed by subcontractor and we set 4" tumbled stone on backsplash to match the rest of the house and 12" floor tile. Finish painted ceiling, walls, all trim and cabinets. Installed 42" flat screen TV on wall. Then we made our way downstairs into the garage below to patch the exposed drain lines by fabricating a small fur down with bullnose edge.
